Pure Barre

Why I Love Pure Barre (Despite the High Heels and Dim Light Issues)

Alright, let’s talk about Pure Barre. I’ve officially become one of those people who swears by the low-impact, muscle-burning magic that is this workout. If you’re someone who enjoys the feeling of a nice burn—without the joint-pounding intensity of some other workouts—this is your place. It’s got all the things I love: a solid workout, results that make me feel like I’m walking a little taller, and yes, that underbutt (yes, I said it) is finally showing some progress. But let’s get into the details.

The Undeniable Burn (And the Little Underbutt Progress)

Let’s talk about the burn. Oh, the burn. You know the one that makes you question your life choices during every minute of class? That’s Pure Barre in a nutshell. But, unlike some other high-intensity workouts, the beauty of Pure Barre is that it’s low-impact but still leaves you sore in places you didn’t know existed. And when I say “places,” I mean that magical area right under your glutes—the underbutt—that little roll of fat you never knew needed attention. I swear, after a few weeks, I started seeing some real progress there. Not just a tighter underbutt, but overall leaner muscles, and it’s honestly like magic.

The High Heels Struggle

Now, I will say there is one tiny hiccup in this workout. The high heels. Or rather, the tippy-toes. Pure Barre involves a lot of balancing on your toes during certain moves, which is great for muscle engagement, but for some reason, I’m always like an inch off the floor, wobbly as all get-out. Maybe it’s my inner ballerina trying to escape, or maybe it’s just the awkwardness that comes with balancing on your toes for long stretches (seriously, someone send help). But it’s a small price to pay for a killer workout, and I’m slowly getting better at it—while still secretly wishing I could turn off the part of my brain that insists I’m one ballet class away from turning into a pro.

Class Formats: A Little Something for Every Mood

One thing I really love about Pure Barre is the variety of class formats. It’s like they know exactly what I need, when I need it. Some days, I sign up for a class, and I just can’t get myself to go (you know, life). But there’s a class format for every mood, which is a huge win.

  • Classic: This one is my go-to. I don’t know if it’s the perfect seat burn or the muscle-shaking moves that get me every time, but I always leave feeling like I’ve done something good for my body. It’s like that sweet spot between challenging and just enough of a “I’m dying, but in a good way” workout. The seat burn in Classic is real, and it’s my favorite part of the class.
  • Define: Some days, I want more resistance. Enter Define. This class ups the ante by adding extra resistance for those of us who love a good burn and don’t mind a little extra challenge. The added intensity is amazing for muscle growth, and trust me, you’ll feel it the next day.
  • Align: A class to work on flexibility and balance- to be frank, I don’t take this class often. That should change though, I grunt when i get up and my bones are cracky sounding. Perhaps taking it down a notch and working on mobility would do me some good!
  • Empower: Think cardio without the impact, it’s a faster-paced class that gets you sweaty. I haven’t taken this class a lot, probably because I always pick my two favorites- define and classic. However, don’t let that stop you- get your empower on!

There’s a class for literally every mood, so I never feel like I’m stuck with the same thing. But I will say, some classes can be a little less intense than others, which is fine if you’re feeling a bit tired, but don’t expect to walk out always drenched in sweat.

The Lights (or, The Lack of Dimness)

Okay, here’s the one thing that nags me about Pure Barre: the lighting. Maybe it’s just me, but I’m a sucker for a dark room. I want to feel like I’m in a secret underground workout lair, not in a well-lit room with mirrors reflecting my every move. I feel like a dimmer light would add to the mood—let me pretend I’m a mysterious workout ninja, not a person desperately trying to hold on to her tippy toes. Just a little darkness, please.

The Price (But Seriously, Isn’t Everything Expensive Now?)

Let’s talk about the price for a second—yes, it’s a bit on the pricey side. But let’s be honest: what isn’t these days? You’re investing in your body, your health, and your underbutt, so I think it’s well worth it. Plus, if you want to lift your booty, tighten your core, and feel like a badass without spending hours at the gym, it’s honestly a good deal.

Why I Recommend Pure Barre

At the end of the day, Pure Barre is a solid choice for anyone who wants a low-impact, highly effective workout that’s going to make you feel like you’ve achieved something serious. It’s the perfect mix of intensity and recovery—where you can walk out of class feeling strong and empowered without being totally wiped out. And let’s be real, there’s nothing quite like the feeling of knowing you’ve just tucked your way to a stronger, tighter, and more toned body.

If you’re on the fence, I say go for it. It’ll burn, it’ll challenge you, and you’ll leave class feeling like you’ve earned that little underbutt progress and so much more!
